Adult's Christmas Eve

After the kids were tucked in bed, it was time for the adults to open their presents! I didn't get any pics of the present opening, but I did get several pictures of the family throughout the evening.

Cookies for Santa

Of course, before we put Parker in bed, we had to put out cookies and milk for Santa. We let him pick out which sweets he wanted to give Santa. He chose a praline square and a piece of fudge!


I absolutely love this picture!! It just makes him look so sweet and innocent! Anyway, this is Adam walking Parker to bed. Of course, he is holding his "Cita"!

He is still VERY attached to the Santa that he has had since he was 6 months old. It goes EVERYWHERE with us! He started out being called "Daddy", from the time Parker could talk, until he was about 2 1/2. Now he is called "Cita", pronounced like the ending of mamacita.

It's pretty funny, because he knows that it is a Santa, but he refuses to call it that. I can hold up a Santa, ask who it is, and he clearly says "Santa Clause", but if I hold up his Santa, and ask who it is, he says "Cita".

Reindeer Dust

After the kids opened their presents and played a while, it was time for them to get in their Christmas jammies and go to bed. Before they could go to bed though, Parker had to sprinkle his Reindeer Dust in the front yard.

He received the little bag of "dust" from school on his last day before Christmas break, and has been SO anxious to "feed his pets"! That's a whole other story. Attached to the bag, was this poem:

Sprinkle this reindeer food outside tonight.
The moonlight will make it sparkle bright.
As the reindeer fly and roam.
This will guide them to your home.

The only ingredients I could see that were in the baggie, were oatmeal, glitter, and some sequins. Anyway, I thought it was such a great idea; we plan on making it a new tradition!

There is no questioning whether or not my little girl LOVES to eat! Some days I feel like she eats ALL day long.

Christmas eve was no exception! She ate all evening, and I think most of it was ham. I am pretty sure she had about 3 big pieces!

Kid's Christmas Eve

Another family tradition that we have had since my brother and I were little, is to open presents on Christmas eve, and do Santa and stockings on Christmas morning. A lot of people that I know think this is crazy, but it is what we have always done, and it makes total sense to me!

Since the kids are so young, and have to go to bed early for Santa, they open their presents first. We all watch them rip open the packages with excitement, and have just as much fun as they do!

He was beyond thrilled about this gift! I knew what Aunt Kate had gotten him, so I had him open it last. If he would have opened it first, he would have had no desire to open the rest of his gifts. The funniest part though, is that I think Adam has played it WAY more than Parker!

All Dressed Up

We have had a tradition in our family since my brother and I were babies to always dress up on Christmas eve in our finest to attend evening services. We have carried on the tradition with my kiddos and I absolutely love to see them all decked out!! Of course, the rest of us attended services in jeans and sweaters, but it's all about the kids anyway!

Here's some pics of them all dressed up! They were all taken after church, because as usual, we were rushing out the door. That will explain why Peyton was so hungry and is eating in half of her pictures!

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and LOTS & LOTS of Prayer

Whew! I am SOOOOO behind on blogging. I feel like I have 50 posts to do, but it has been so busy the past 2 weeks, that I haven't taken the time to sit down and do anything about it. It is a bit overwhelming too, to think about how long it's going to take to get caught up, but I promise I will do it!

We had a great Christmas and I hope you all did too! We always have a blast with our family! Our family that isn't in the Dallas area was definitely missed, but we know that they had a great time too!

Our New Year's Eve was quite low key. It had been a very long and sad day, so Adam and I decided to hang out with Derek and Andrea and have a pretty lax night.

New Year's Day was a lazy day, and we ended up back in Waxahachie for the night, because the electricity on our block went out at 1:00 in the afternoon and still wasn't back on by the time it was dark. Kind of hard to have kids at a house with no lights.

I also have a request for prayer for the Seymore family. Jenny wrote about her precious son, Logan, on her blog. Click here to read her loving words about her beautiful baby boy. Please keep Jenny and her family in your prayers!! I can't begin to imagine what they are going through and my heart breaks every time I think about it. Please pray that they will be able to find some kind of comfort and peace throughout their grieving. I love you Jon, Jenny, and Luke!

I am going to try to get some posts done tonight, but I can promise you that I won't get to all of them. Stay tuned throughout the week!
