Praise God!!

Our prayers have been answered!! Carter is doing GREAT!! I was finally able to go see him and Andrea again last night. I was able to stay for 5 hours, and A LOT of wonderful things happened while I was there!

Shortly after I got there, his respiratory specialist came in to check on him and turned his oxygen down to .25 to see how he would do. He did great. His levels needed to be above 90-92, and they were staying steady at 100! She also decided to do another deep suction while she was there, to remove the "gunk" from his lungs, and was able to remove a ton! The "gunk" is thick, white, grainy looking stuff...I was in amazement. I couldn't believe all of that was in his tiny, little lungs!

His respiratory rate is supposed to be below 60. When Carter was first admitted into the hospital, his rate was in the 70's. Now, it is in the 50's!!

Later in the evening, Carter started stirring around, so Andrea and I went to check on him. I noticed a little blood on his blanket, which was from the IV. He had somehow worked it loose, which ended up being a good thing! The nurse completely removed the IV and the oxygen, to see how he would do. His rates stayed steady!

Since his arm had been wrapped up for 4 days, when she removed the bandages, it stunk SO bad! The nurse decided to give him a bath and you could tell he loved it. It was so cute! He actually started to look like his old self again! When he got all jammied up, and hooked back up to the monitor, his levels were at a steady 98!! Woo hoo!! So, he went all night with no IV and no oxygen, and did perfect!

I have never seen Andrea more excited. You could see the relief wash over her! I talked to her this morning and she said she was finally able to get some much needed rest last night. Thank God for that! She hasn't slept in a week.

Thank you all for your prayers and please continue to pray for Carter. Although he will get to go home, there is still a long road of recovery ahead. Please pray that he will heal 100% and that he will have no long term effects!

This is before he was taken off of the oxygen. Poor baby! Here he is getting his much needed bath! That arm was rank!! hehehe
Happy and jammied up!
Isn't he precious?!!? You can just see in his eyes how much better he feels!
Of course I had to get a shot of the monitor...look at that 98!!
Look how excited Andrea is!! I love it!
I hope you all have a great weekend! Love you all!

Thanks for the post and thanks for keeping me company at the hospital. I was so glad you were there with me when he made his turn around! I couldn't ask for a better friend.
